Doing and Being

This fall I began helping out with youth group at our church and I absolutely love it! The teens are a great bunch of people who I enjoy spending time with. I'm grateful for the opportunity that God has given me to work with the teens at church. It has allowed me to feel more at home on Sunday mornings. Last night was really the first night of the school year that new teens have come to youth group. It was good getting to be apart of that important night and begin to build relationships with the new teens. Each week we have a separate small group time before youth group where some of the teens come to study God's word together. Last night was the final lesson of the "Love out Loud" series we have been studying. The main point of the lesson was about being before doing. A lot of times people try to do so many things for God that they forget to be with God. It would be like having a husband who spends all of his time buying gifts and taking care of the house that he never has time to be with his wife. Without taking the time to be with God, we can't really know him. So before you sign up for every volunteer opportunity, take time to soak up God's word and ask him what opportunities to jump into. Soak this up too :)  The Value of Silence and Solitude with God
