1 Corinthians 6:12-13
Sexual Immorality
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. How do you know what to do when there isn't a clear right or wrong?
We get into all kinds of trouble when we have an attitude that gives us a license to do as we please. The "well it's legal so it must be fine" way of thinking. On the other hand legalism isn't the way to go either. You don't have to obey a huge list of do's and don'ts to be close to God. Thankfully, we can have freedom to enjoy what is good and avoid things that are not so good.
Ask yourself these questions when you come across a gray area in your life.
1. Will it please God?
2. Will it help me? (is it good for my health or growth?)
3. Could it consume me? (is it tempting or addicting?)
4. Will it hurt someone else?
-What are your biggest gray areas?
Ask God for wisdom in the gray areas of life.
