The Message (MSG)
2If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3-7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
What if we hung this on our bedroom walls and replaced Love with our names? Would the statement still be true?
Name never gives up.

Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a huge word and I think I am beginning to grasp it. This week I started reading "Stories for the extreme teen's heart" by Alice Grey. To find out more about the book click the link. LINK
As I was reading through the first few stories it was a little emotional for me. One story stuck out in particular. This story is about a brother and sister who learned that Jesus said to forgive 70 X 7 which equals 490. Then the sister decides to make a chart and keep track of how many times her brother had to forgive her. After she reached the end of the chart she made a huge mistake that changed her brothers future forever, or so she thought. As a result, she decides to leave home and run away until three years later she finds herself laying on the ground in the cold. It's during this time she decides to live a more respectable life and gets a job as a waitress. One day while working she recognized an old friend who accidentally informed her of her brothers death by car accident. At this time the sister calls home hoping her family will forgive her and asking them to meet her at the bus station. When she arrived she was overwhelmed to find not only her parents but her entire extended family waiting to welcome her home and celebrate.
Lets try to remember this story when we find it hard to forgive. Think about what the other person is feeling, open your arms wide and more than welcome them inside your heart.

Tonight I thought I'd browse through blogger and see what all the buzz is about then I came across this awesome poem. Check it out!

This morning I was watching the Today show and eating my chocolate chip pancakes when a story about the congresswomen who had been shot in the head came on and they were talking about her return to politics after being in the hospital. How she looked people in the eye and gave them her full attention. Then later on in the show Kathy Lee and Hoda were talking with Trace Adkins about the loss of his home to a fire.
After watching these stories I was inspired to live. The truth is we don't know how much time we have. I for one want to get off the couch and do all of the things that I've been wanting to do and stop putting them off. For example, I want to have the attitude of Christ every day which means I have to give up my own desires, let go, and let God. I also want to live a healthier life style, changing the way I eat and exercise. I want to continue to pour out love on the people around me so that there will be no doubt in their mind that I love them.
After watching these stories I was inspired to live. The truth is we don't know how much time we have. As you may have already noticed, one of the passages I like to read over and over again is Romans 7 & 8. Every time I read it I find better understanding and refreshing hope that one day we will be with our Lord and everything will be as it should. Tonight I understand that we don't do what we want to do as Christians but rather we do what we don't want to do. Yet in this, we are free because the knowledge of this fact means we are agreeing that the law is good. Therefore, in Christ and His goodness we have hope of Heaven.
HOPE
20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. (Romans 8:20-25, New International Version)

Proverbs 13:12 says, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick. but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life."
What does that mean?
Asbury Bible Commentary on v. 12 & 19 says, "The satisfaction of hope or its frustration affects one's mental and physical well-being. A fool, however, refuses to give up a desire, which in the end means disaster."
Matthew Henry's commentary states, "The delay of what is anxiously hoped for, is very painful to the mind; obtaining it is very pleasant. But spiritual blessings are chiefly intended."
I hope it rains soon

Grace Like Rain
Last night I sat out on the front porch waiting for it to rain. It hasn't rained here in weeks and it's showing. While I sat there on the wooden swing feeling the breeze push my hair onto my face I pondered the concept of grace like rain. I've observed that right before it storms the leaves curl their edges up like a delicate dish. Then the wind begins to brush through the trees and the air warms up like bath water. Then after a few rustling winds blow over, all is calm. It feels as if the whole world is completely still for a moment. Then the rain comes.
But how is grace like rain?
Grace is like rain because rain is free. We can't do anything to get it, yet we don't have to. Grace, just like a thunderstorm, is enough to cover everything. There is no field or hill hidden from it and all have their fill of it.9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10, New International Version)

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." - Hebrews 11:1

Day Three
So I think I'm finally getting the hang of this. Today I had a good time playing with the kids in the sand box. We made tunnels and connected them, the kids had a blast. I also learned how to play 14 square! yeah you know 4 square except 14!!! it's intense. Then we road the bus to the high school and ate lunch. On the way back to the park we piled like 78 kids and like 10 staff on the bus. If you were wondering, yes, we did get to experience the domino effect. The bus stopped abruptly and all of the sudden I was where Emily use to be standing. Silly me thinking right before we left that I would be able to stand just fine after practicing public transportation in Italy, well I was wrong. The only thing I still need to figure out is how they are scheduling me to work then I'll be set.
Recreation Day One
So I've officially decided that I love little kids. Today we played in the sand box and I was making a castle with a little girl, that actually looked more like a mountain and I asked her what she wanted to put in it. She proceeded to make spots for our rooms and said "we should put a lion". I asked her where it was going to go and she told me, "in your room". I laughed and asked "what if he gets hungry?" to which she responded, "Then he'll eat all your stuff". Kids really do say the darnest things. :P We also did a lot of other things like run through the sprinkler, make arts and crafts, play duck duck goose, and tag.
Minus a couple of behavioral issues today was a pretty good first day. Then I got home...
After I picked my mom up from work and attempted to take a nap three times I got sick. This = dumb things not to do again include,
1. eat a cheese sandwich that melted in the car
2. stay out in the sun all day and drink no liquids
Needless to say I learned my lesson the hard way.

Italia
Italia has been amazing and our group has so much to be thankful for. I cant wait to get back and write to you longer about it. Today has been amazing we took a ski lift up a mountain! The view was amazing. God has blessed us so much on this trip with people, safety and for the most part convienient travel plans. Praise be to Him! Arrividerci
