Standing Strong

So as I was sitting here in my room with the sunlight shining in the window I decided I wanted to write about how we stand strong. With all of the things being thrown at us in this culture it is extreamly difficult to stand strong. That is why the Bible tells us to "Fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith" Hebrews 12:2 and also "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."- 2 Cor 4:18 That's why memorizing scripture is so important. When we have God's word in our hearts we can pull it out when we need it. Every time i'm tempted I immediatly diverte my thoughts on a verse that i've memorized and keep quoting verses until my thoughts are back on God.  Hebrews 4:12 - "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

"14Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 16For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham's descendants. 17For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for[f]the sins of the people. 18Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." - Hebrews 2:14-18

"1Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess." - Hebrews 3:1
