This J-term has been quite a challenge. Right now I am taking Spiritual Formations and Art Foundations. Together it equals 5 credits, which means 5 hours of class every day for 2 and a half weeks. Thankfully there are only two days left. Although it has not been as fun as I would have liked I have really enjoyed both of my classes. In spiritual formations we have been learning about different spiritual disciplines. For example, Silence, hospitality, Sabbath, Jesus Prayer, Meditation, Spiritual Direction and a couple others. I am really glad that I have had the opportunity to learn about these different things. I now understand what these practices are all about and why we do them. I will definitely be implementing a couple of them in my life. For class we have been reading some great books on the topic. My favorite three are "The Sacred Way" by Tony Jones, "Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers" by Claiborne & Heartgrove, and "Mudhouse Sabbath by Lauren F. Winner. I strongly encourage you to check them out. Especially if you are interested in learning more about Spiritual Discipines, or have a yearning to get closer to God. Although, I really enjoyed reading these books I by no means encourage you to agree with everything that they say. Rather think it over, do some research, ask people around you, and come up with your own conclusions.
Anyways, J-term is the reason I have not been able to write much lately in case you were wondering. :)
